Ubisoft heeft tijdens een recente earnings call aangegeven meer dan ooit te investeren in free-to-play games. Dit zal echter Ubisoft’s visie op AAA-titels niet vervangen.
Dat zegt Sean Lama, Senior Analist bij Ubisoft. Toen gisterenavond Ubisoft de nadruk op free-to-play games legde, werd deze uitspraak verkeerd geïnterpreteerd. Ubisoft blijft zich dus focussen op grote AAA-games zoals Assassin’s Creed en Far Cry, maar zet ook in op free-to-play games zoals de recent aangekondigde Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland.
“Betreffende de Ubisoft-reactie, die is in de context van het feit dat free-to-play een groter aandeel in de opbrengst wordt, niet een indicatie dat er minder traditionele, betaalde games zoals Assassin’s Creed verschijnen. De contentmix wordt uitgebreid, niet veranderd. Een goede vergelijking is de evolutie van Call of Duty sinds Warzone.”
Hi. Regarding the Ubisoft comment, it's in reference to F2P becoming a larger share of the revenue pie, not an indication that there will be less traditional paid games like AC. The content mix is expanding, not changing. A good comp is the evolution of CoD since Warzone.
