Enkele weken geleden claimde een groep hackers dat het de servers van Capcom gehackt had. Daarmee zouden de hackers wel 1TB aan data hebben binnengehaald.
Toen gaf Capcom aan dat er geen reden was tot paniek en dat dat er nauw wordt samengewerkt met de Japanse politie.
Nu hebben de hackers veel interne data gelekt. Zo weten we nu bijvoorbeeld wat de geplande releasedatum is van Resident Evil Village. Hieronder zijn alle interessante gelekte informatie over Capcom’s games op een rijtje gezet:
- Resident Evil Village staat gepland voor april 2021;
- De game is ook in ontwikkeling voor de Xbox One en de PS4;
- In een e-mail wordt gesproken over Battle Royale voor Resident Evil: Village;
- Een demo van Resident Evil Village is in ontwikkeling en lijkt allereerst uit te gaan komen voor de PlayStation-consoles;
- Capcom werkt aan een nieuwe Resident Evil Multiplayer game met codenaam “Project Highway/Villager Online;
- Resident Evil 4 is in ontwikkeling voor de Oculus Quest;
- Een nieuwe Ace Attorney collection zal worden uitgebracht op de PlayStation 4 en Nintendo Switch;
- Monster Hunter Rise en Monster Hunter Stories 2 die exclusief werden aangekondigd voor de Nintendo Switch, komen later in 2021 ook uit op de PC.
- Monster Hunter Stories 2 ondersteund offline single-player, online co-op en PvP;
- Gratis demo’s van Monster Hunter Rise en Monster Hunter Stories 2 komen voor release uit;
- Source code van Devil May Cry 2 en Umbrella Chronicles zijn gelekt;
- Een game met codenaam Project Guillotine, is in ontwikkeling voor de Nintendo Switch;
- Een game met codenaam Project Reiwa moet in mei 2021 uitkomen;
- Een multiplayer shooter met codenaam Shield moet in 2021 uitkomen.
Inmiddels heeft Capcom een officiele verklaring gegeven over de hack, deze is als volgt:
Beginning in the early morning hours of November 2, 2020, some of the Capcom Group networks experienced issues that affected access to certain systems, including email and file servers. The company has confirmed that this was due to unauthorized access carried out by a third party and that it has halted some operations of its internal networks as of November 2. Capcom expressed its deepest regret for any inconvenience this may cause to its various stakeholders. Further, it stated that at present there is no indication that any customer information was breached. This incident has not affected connections for playing the company’s games online or access to its various websites.
Presently, Capcom is consulting with the police as well as other related authorities while both carrying out an investigation and taking measures to restore its systems. The company will continue to offer relevant updates as the facts become clear, via its websites and other means.
